Lil Wayne shared some big news with fans this past weekend, announcing that his Free Weezy Album would be released next month. While headlining the Red Bull Guest House Saturday, March 28, the Young Money rapper revealed that the album will drop in April following rumors sparked by social media.

As noted by XXL, Wayne sparked an interest in the project's release after he tweeted, "Hit sent. #FWA."

He recently joined Instagram and has been promoting the album with the aforementioned hashtag.

The LP will be the second project the YM CEO releases this year, following Sorry 4 the Wait 2.

Aside from his crowd-pleasing announcement, Wayne got fans hyped with a performance of his classic bangers "I'm Going In," "Ms. Officer," "We Be Steady Mobbin" and "No Worries." He also performed his verse on Nicki Minaj's "Only."

The Young Money-curated showcase included performances and DJ sets by Mannie Fresh, Roots drummer Questlove and Kanye West producer Hudson Mohawke.

There is still no word on when to expect the release of Lil Wayne's highly-anticipated Tha Carter V.

Last year, Wayne told MTV that Tha Carter V would be his last solo album.

"I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it's definitely the final Carter album. It's the final Carter album. It's stopping at five," Wayne said.

He went on to say that he will not totally throw in the towel, since an occasional guest appearance is not too much to ask for.

"I plan on it being my final solo album," he said. "Whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue."

Considering his current lawsuit against Baby and Cash Money, a father-son album seems unlikely. Rich Gang newcomer Young Thug plans on continuing the Carter series, reportedly naming his debut Tha Carter VI.
