Rihanna is getting political in her new music video for "American Oxygen." Featuring footage from America of days present and past, the party-friendly singer takes on the racial tension and protests that have been sweeping the nation in recent years. Though the new single from "R8" was released to subscribers of TIDAL earlier this month, the "B*tch Better Have My Money" follow-up is now available for purchase and the visual has been uploaded to VEVO.

Rihanna sings about trying to reach the American dream in military gear and in front of an American flag, while clips of historic moments, peaceful protests, police brutality and American leaders flash around her.

At one point, the death announcement of Martin Luther King Jr. cuts into the music and scenes from the civil rights leader's funeral play on screen.
