When their SUV became stranded in an isolated area of Michigan, two sisters from Nebraska and Oklahoma were trapped for two weeks, left to survive only on Girl Scout cookies and a single bag of cheese puffs.

On Friday, 52-year old Leslie Roy and her sister, 56-year-old Lee Marie Wright, were rescued by police helicopter, thanks to a reflection off of their broken down white Ford Explorer. The truck inopportunely lost power in Michigan's Upper Peninsula near Lake Superior and got stuck in the snow, notes the Associated Press.

The sisters, Roy from Nebraska and Wright from Oklahoma, were on their way to visit family when they missed their estimated day of arrival on April 14, giving their loved ones an immediate red flag. After working with police, the family soon realized the duo hadn't been seen since April 11.

"We knew that we needed to find them soon in order to have a happy outcome," Dennis, Roy's son, told NBC News. "Entering this weekend, the family was seeking closure," he added.

A Facebook page was set up in hopes of gaining information on the sisters' whereabouts and keeping everyone updated on the situation at hand. Friday brought a relieved post that said "THEY HAVE BEEN FOUND ALIVE!!!!!! Thank you everyone for your prayers, thoughts, best wishes, for absolutely everything!!!!"

"Through the days and nights while in the woods, we survived using love and hope in our families," they said in an emailed statement, notes the Associated Press. "Our faith in God held our confidence that we would eventually be found. We took note of circling aircraft, available water resources, the supplies we had with us. These factors eased our mind and allowed us to stay alive for thirteen long days."

Jeff Marker, Michigan State police Detective Sgt. explained that the car lost power and neither of the women had cell phone reception to call for assistance. Instead, they kept warm with layers upon layers of clothing while drinking melted snow to keep hydrated and eating the cheese puffs and Girl Scout cookies they had at their disposal.

Whether or not they were once Girl Scouts, Roy and Wright deserve Girl Scout wilderness survival patches of their very own.
