Britney Spears' ankle injury on April 29 during her Las Vegas Piece of Me show may be a little more serious than initially thought. After first reassuring her adoring fans that everything would be alright, yesterday (April 30), the "Pretty Girls" singer announced that her doctor advised her to cancel her next two concerts in Sin City.

In posts on Twitter and Instagram, Spears announced that she has not been cleared to perform after twisting her ankle during a performance of the '90s hit "(You Drive Me) Crazy"

"Breaks my heart to share this news. After hurting my ankle last night my doctor has advised me not to perform this weekend [tear emoji]," Spears wrote. "Your kind words mean everything to me! I'm rescheduling this weekend's shows and will let y'all know when we have the new dates. Xoxo."

The extent of Spears' injury is unclear, though in fan captured video, it's clear that the pop star slammed her ankle pretty hard during a jump dance routine.

Spears' schedules shows tonight (May 1) and Saturday (May 2) have been cancelled. Billboard reports that Ticketmaster and the AXIS Box Office will either exchange tickets for fans who purchased them or will issue full refunds.

Though Spears announced that she will reschedule the dates, new shows have not been announced.

Spears is next set to take the stage on Wednesday, May 6, in Las Vegas. Her next show will come just one day after her Iggy Azalea collaboration "Pretty Girls" is set to arrive on May 5.
