Miley Cyrus is on a mission to help the marginalized youth of America. From brining a homeless teen onstage to accept her MTV Video Music Award to calling out the Indiana governor over the discriminating religious freedom law, Cyrus is ready to use her platform for change with her new Happy Hippie Foundation, an organization that seeks to help issues affecting homeless youth, LGBT youth and other vulnerable populations.

"Pointless judgment and its effects are unfortunately something that is way too common. All humans have valid feelings and rights! I want to use my voice as a megaphone to young people everywhere and encourage human evolution," Cyrus said in a statement. "No one should have to hide who they really are, no matter what his or her name, gender or status. That's why Happy Hippies are here to say that every life is valuable!"

She's rallied a few of her industry friends to help out with the cause and together they've created Backyard Sessions, which features Cyrus teaming with another artist for a special performance straight from the Bangerz singer's backyard.

The first session features Cyrus and her idol Joan Jett singing her song "Different" off her 2013 record Unvarnished.

"Have you ever taken flak from the bullies on attack 'cause you're different?" Jett sings. "They laugh and call you names, but that ain't no badge of shame just 'cause you're different."

Jett spoke about her admiration for Cyrus and the Happy Hippie Foundation in an interview with Rolling Stone saying, "I think what Miley's doing is wonderful and important to help people find their authentic selves. I'm proud to be a part of it."
