Yesterday (May 21), the United States held its first ever Red Nose Day on NBC with the help of everyone from Coldplay to One Direction to Blake Shelton. But, one highlight is already making its way around the Internet with a huge heartwarming splash... a cover of "Rainbow Connection" courtesy of Ed Sheeran and the song's originator Kermit the Frog.

Sitting atop black equipment cases, Kermit the Frog and "Ed the Sheeran" first ask people to donate to children's charities, joking that Kermit won't be allowed back to the swamp unless he delivers with some bacon (or, more fittingly, the green).

After ribbing each other in that infectious Muppets way, Sheeran begins to strum a tune on his x-marked acoustic guitar, which Kermit immediately recognizes as "Rainbow Connection."

The two trade off vocal duties on the classic hit, and nobody seemed more gleeful about the performance than Sheeran himself, who was smiling from ear to ear the whole time. At one point, he even breaks into small bouts of laughter. It's the exact sort of heartwarming performance you expect from Red Nose Day, and it was a sweet was to kick off this new chapter.
