Filming has started on the revived series, The X-Files, up in Vancouver and we are already learning some pretty cool things about what to expect when the hit series returns for a limited run in January. First of all, don't call it a reboot because no one connected to the show likes that phrase. In their minds, the characters of Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) have never really gone away, they simply dropped off our radar for a bit. The latest photos coming from the set prove that Duchovny and Anderson are still packing some serious heat while portraying the characters that made them both household names.

The current issue of Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive preview of what to expect from The X-Files 2.0. Apparently Mulder is in a pretty bad place in his life and he will reunite with Scully to solve a case. In recent years Anderson has been blonde and she told the magazine that she really looked forward to returning to her infamous red hair to play Scully, but her colorist advised against it. Going red would be easy but then getting her hair back to the blonde that her lead character on the BBC's hit series, The Fall, requires would be disastrous. So Anderson is suffering beneath a wig while playing Scully.

Chris Carter, The X-Files creator, was also quick to point out just how much has changed since the last episode of the original series aired. "A lot has happened since then. A lot of rollback of rights and liberties in the name of our protection. We're being spied on now, we're being lied to — all things that, for me, remind me of when I grew up, which was right around Watergate. I think we're in similar and much more dire times right now." explained Carter.

Are you excited to see this show return for six episodes in January? Duchovny has already said that another limited run is certainly a possibility if this one does well in the ratings. Do you think that The X-Files is going to kill in the numbers game? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
