Dr. Dre hasn't been musically active in nearly a decade (though some fans still have hope that at some time or another the legendary Detox album will magically appear). Snoop Dogg is still working hard diversifying his musical output into more retro disco and funk genres, taking the next step from the soul and funk samples used in his early '90s tracks that made the Doggfather famous. Now the pair has been spotted in the studio together according to an Instagram post by the Bush rapper with the caption "Guess who bAcc." The two rappers have been responsible for some of the greatest rap songs of all time like "The Next Episode" and "Nuthin But a G Thang."

What we can actually take away from the picture is unclear. It is nice to see Dre outside of the office environment working deals for Apple and Beats and in the studio. It is entirely likely he is there more often, but as private as Dre is, pictures just don't appear online. We can all hope that this means that the pair are making another collaboration in the same vein of the classics which we heard back in the day, but too much has changed for each artist for something like that to happen.

The pair reunited at Coachella in 2012 with hologram Tupac to perform many of their classics for a special one-of-a-kind performance, but we haven't seen anything else from them recently until now.

Dre has a big week ahead of him with the launch of Apple Music, the rebranded and upgraded version of Beats Music on June 30. Snoop released his Pharrell-produced album Bush on May 5.
