The Horn Family

Joel and Jamie Horn got their start with their family member, Scott Brown, as young men. The sons of a preacher, they were raised on Southern Gospel, playing music at their dad's church - Loggy Bottom Pentecostal Church in Whitewood, Virginia. With Joel singing lead and playing piano, Jamie on drums and Scott Brown on bass, the boys played at every local benefit, church concert, and revival in their area.

As they all came into adulthood, Joel and Jamie found themselves married to Godly women who could sing! The Horn Family grew in 2000 as Tina and Tracy joined their husbands on stage and Sidney Helton came on board as lead guitarist.

Blending country and contemporary gospel with occasional traditional gospel moments, the Horns have spent the past decade traveling the Southeast in a 15-passenger van, sometimes playing over 100 concerts per year.

"We started performing at our home church and it seemed like every time we played a song, something special would happen to someone's life in the audience." Joel shares. "A strong burden grew in our hearts to use this band as a source of life and hope in our community."

When the group isn't singing, they write songs as a group. Each member brings their own perspective and experiences to their songs. "Each of us in the group have been through tough times, so we’re able to approach songwriting through different angles of our pasts, which all ultimately lead to redemption through Christ," Joel says.

The Horn Family will be releasing its first album, a self-titled project, on March 4, 2014. Recorded in Nashville and produced by Mark Collie (whose works have been recorded by artists such as Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, George Jones, and Alabama), the release will come out on Fort Worth, Texas-based indie label RayLynn Records. The label is the love child Bob and Janice Simpson, co-owners of the Texas Rangers, who both love sharing the Gospel through music.
