The dust has barely settled on his debut artist album Forever and Swedish producer, DJ phenom Alesso has already released another piece of material to remind fans of his stature in the EDM space. This time he steps back from the originals and moves back into remixing, the "Sweet Escape" producer does not take on very often, but when he does it is generally very successfully. This time he has been tabbed to remix Maroon 5's new hit "This Summer," that has been released as a single just in time for the warmer months of the season and adding a rework from Alesso makes perfect sense.

Alesso totally flips the instrumental from Maroon 5 on its head into an anthemic, main stage-driven EDM track with big hands in the air synth chords, a thumping bass line and even teasing some rolling 808s. The soaring vocals of Adam Levine, yelling out, "This summer's gonna hurt like a motherf*cker" echoes over Alesso's well-crafted melodies. Stream the song below on Soundcloud and head to iTunes to purchase it now to add to those Fourth of July playlists.

The work he does on this is reminiscent of what the Swedish producer did with OneRepublic's "If I Lose Myself" back in 2013. It was also billed as Alesso vs. the original artist instead of a straight remix, recognizing how different the original and the rework were. The Alesso remix became a massive hit in the electronic music space and still pops up in sets every now and again and helped start a very fruitful relationship between the producer and Ryan Tedder. This remix has the potential to be as big as the "If I Lose Myself" remix and the timing is just right.
