Eminem is going from serious to comedic in a second. After airing his interview with Zane Lowe as part of Apple Music's Beats 1 Radio's big launch, Eminem also sat down with Stephen Colbert on local access network in Michigan for a hilarious interview. Colbert apparently got bored of not hosting a show, so he took over Only In Monroe, a program on local TV in Monroe, MI and hung out with the original guests and then with of the greatest rapper the state has ever produced. This is the untamed Colbert that we knew from his show on Comedy Central, The Colbert Report and combined with the dry humor of Eminem, you have comedic gold.

Colbert first drills Em on his Michigan music knowledge, seeing how many Bob Seger songs he knows, leaving the rapper in the dust.

He then dives into what type of rapper Eminem is, pegging him between more sing-songy like Bone Thugs N' Harmony or street like Will Smith.

At one point it gets comically awkward when the two go back and forth about whether or not Eminem can "pay the rent" with his career and his relevance as a rapper. Remember: Em is an actor himself, starring in 8 Mile, so doing this type of bit isn't hard for him.

Colbert calls him out for getting flustered and Em replies, "I think I just look angry."

The full interview, which starts at around the 22-minute mark (but the whole thing is great), is priceless. The main topic of conversation is the movie Mathers is involved: Southpaw

We will miss the old Colbert. This Fall will usher in a new era for him on the Late Show, taking over for David Letterman. Let's hope it's at least a fraction as funny as this.
