This weekend, Akon is bringing a slew of artists from all over the world to Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park for the first-ever Passport Experience Festival. The concert will feature performances by artists including Walshy Fire of Major Lazer and Gyptian

Hosted by the "Right Now" singer, the festival is slated to cover an array of genres like afrobeat, reggae, soca, hip-hop and EDM. PXP Fest will feature sets by Bryan Michael Cox, MK Ultra and Timaya as well. It all goes down on Sunday, July 19. Performances will begin at 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Akon Lighting Africa foundation, which launched earlier this year. The nonprofit's mission is to provide electricity to homes in 25 countries in Africa by 2016 and ultimately the rest of the continent by 2020.

As noted by Clean Technia, 85 percent of the continent of Africa has no electricity generating plants and no energy grid. So far, Akon's initiative has brought light to 14 countries, including Senegal where he bares ancestry.

"Africa needs to be sustainable for a long time and be a crutch for the rest of world instead of the other way around," Akon said. "A stable Africa helps the world."

Akon teased his forthcoming album Stadium earlier this year. His last studio effort, Freedom, was released back in 2008.
