David Gilmour finally decided follow up his 2006 solo LP, On and Island, with Rattle That Lock, due out on Sept. 18. The Pink Floyd guitarist teamed up with Alasdair & Jock from Trunk Animation to design an animated music video for the title track of his new album.

The animation was crafted with the creative oversight of Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis, the design responsible for legendary images for Animals, Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, Wish You Were Here and other classic Pink Floyd albums, notes Rolling Stone. "I love animation when it does something that can't be achieved any other way," Gilmour said in a statement. "The film Alasdair & Jock have made for 'Rattle That Lock' highlights a darkness in the song that couldn't have been shown any other way."

Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson, penned the lyrics to the track, drawing significant amounts of inspiration from John Milton's epic poem, Paradise Lost. "I think the animators have done a fine job: paying homage to Gustave Dore bringing his illustrations for Paradise Lost alive, making a powerful visual for the song," he said.

The 69-year-old guitarist will support the impending record with a solo tour, kicking off in Brighton, England, on Sept. 5-- Gilmour's first time on the road since the 2008 death of Richard Wright, Pink Floyd keyboardist and collaborator on Gilmour's solo endeavors. The tour will continue in America for a quick string of gigs in March and April 2016.

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason recently reunited with Gilmour to craft a mainly instrumental Floyd LP containing tidbits of Wrights final recordings, The Endless River, bassist Roger Waters made it clear that he has no desire to be involved in any future plans Pink Floyd may have. Fans quickly got their hopes up regarding a gathered tour but Gilmour quickly put rumors to rest. "I just try to imagine what it would be like, and the thought of it makes me break out in a cold sweat," he told Rolling Stone. "I'm an older person. I'm really enjoying my life. I'm really enjoying the music that I am making, and there's no room for Pink Floyd."
