In 2015, new Aphex Twin releases aren't as rare as they once were, but today (August 11), Richard D. James has shared two new tracks from his upcoming EP under his AFX moniker, which he hasn't used since 2005. As was the case with last year's Syro, one of the tracks is named after the various pieces of equipment and/or software used in its production, "midi pipe1c sds3time cube/klonedrm," while the other bears a more legible, but still lengthy title, "Simple Slamming B 2 - Ten Eight Seven Mastered.WAV." Both tracks will appear on AFX's upcoming EP, Orphaned Deejay Selek (2006-2008), which comes out August 21 on Warp Records.

Going off the title, we assume the EP will be a collection of previously unheard AFX material. In January, Aphex Twin released Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2, which was originally meant as a companion album to 2001's Drukqs. James likely has years worth of mind-bending experiments stowed away in his lab, though that doesn't lessen the excitement each time he treats his devoted fans to an unearthed recording.

"Simple Slamming" follows "Serge Fenix Rendered 2" and "oberheim blacet1b" as the latest Deejay Selek track to be released via James's soundcloud. The three new tracks don't quite match the wealth of music he uploaded to a (since deleted) random account earlier this year, but surely three tracks of frenzied electronic madness are easier to take in than 200.

The other new track, "midi pipe1c sds3time cube/klonedrm" is included on the EP's pre-order page on the Bleep online store. It's a much simpler, more organic composition compared to the three above tracks, combining woodwinds and video game-style bleeps for a creepiness that's James's signature. Check it out here.
