Talib Kweli has been pretty quiet in the past few years on the music front, but yesterday, the New York City rapper decided to surprise his fans with a free album. Kweli brings out some big names to contribute on the project, aptly titled F*ck The Money, like Miguel, Ab-Soul, Styles P, Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump and others. Production on the LP comes in from the likes of Amadeus, The Alchemist, Thanks Joey, Farhot and Kaytranada.
The 11-track LP features the potent social lyrical commentary one has come to expect from Kweli and his collaborators. The title track, which he made available to stream on Soundcloud in the days leading up the LP release, features a contribution from South African artist Cassper Nyovest over a deep, booming Farhot beat.
Track two, "Leslie Nope," gives a shout out to Amy Poehler's character in the NBC comedy, Parks and Recreation.
The free LP could be a teaser for Kweli's upcoming studio album, Gravitas, that has been delayed for years and features some production from Q-Tip.
