Nick Carter's back, and the Backstreet Boys singer is joining the new season of Dancing with the Stars. On Wednesday (Aug. 26), the boy band member announced that he's joining Bindi Irwin and Victor Espinoza on the ABC competition show for its 21st season.

Carter made the announcement in an interview with US Weekly, admitting that after being courted by Dancing with the Stars for four years, he finally made the jump after his brother Aaron Carter and fellow boy bander Joey Fatone of NSYNC spoke positively about the show.

"My brother was on it; he did great; and he's a great little dancer and entertainer so I saw it through his eyes throughout that experience," Carter said. "And there's a lot of competitiveness in me and I think there's a little something inside of me that says, 'Okay, I'm going to go there and represent the Carter name and do even better than what he did!'"

Aaron Carter came in fifth place on the ninth season of the show.

Though the older Carter brother should have plenty of experience dancing thanks to his long run in the Backstreet Boys (remember "Everybody?!), the 35-year-old pop star revealed that he's not the most confident man when it comes to dancing.

"I never considered myself a great dancer. Even though funny enough I've danced my entire life, I might have had a little insecurity on that end. But I felt this time around I had some time and I think it'll be a cool experience. I think they can teach me some stuff," he said, noting that he would like to become better at ballroom dancing.

Carter will appear alongside the rest of the Dancing with the Stars cast when the show kicks off on Monday, Sept. 14.
