Back in March, The Game first shared plans to release The Documentary 2 on the 10th anniversary of his Aftermath debut album. Despite a delay, it now looks like things are finally coming to fruition with a September release date and the unveiling of the album's cover art.

Accompanied by a lengthy caption, Game recently revealed the album's cover art on Instagram. The black-and-white cover shows Game in front of a chain link fence on the bridge of Cedar Block Piru in Compton, where he grew up. The photo was taken by Jonathan Mannion, who photographed Game's first album cover.

As previously reported, TD2 was originally slated to drop on June 30, coinciding with the birthday of his oldest son Harlem, who appeared on the original Documentary cover.

“Everything about the photo shoot made me feel the exact same way I did when we were there 10 years ago,” Game wrote underneath the photo.

Game has reportedly been in the studio with Sevyn Streeter, Keyshia Cole and others who contributed to his debut like Kanye West, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Just Blaze and Scott Storch.

Two singles ("100" with Drake and "Ambitionz as a Rida" featuring Dej Loaf) have already been released as well as a snippet from a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar. Game spoke highly of the album and noted how proud Eazy-E would be if he were alive.

“This album is better than my 1st for more than a few reasons,” he wrote. “After Kendrick dropped his album, then Dr. Dre dropped #Compton then the movie doing 100 million after just 2 weeks….. This album will add to my cities continuous legacy !!!! I’m proud to be from #COMPTON & I wish #EazyE was alive to see us flourish yet again…… We on !!!”

TD2 will be The Game's sixth studio effort since nudging his way to stardom as Dr. Dre's protégé. Last October, he released Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf, which was supported by the singles "Bigger Than Me," "Or Nah," "Really" and "Black On Black."
