Kanye West got everyone's attention with his speech at Sunday (Aug. 30) night's VMAs, including Donald Trump. The presidential candidate commented on the ordeal, saying he hopes to run against the "All Day" rapper for president in 2020.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Trump revealed that he was watching the awards when West gave his captivating acceptance speech and shared his plans to get on the ballot.

"I said, 'That's very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea,'" Trump told the magazine.

Throughout West's 12-minute speech, he bounced around from subject to subject and left everyone to pick up their jaw as he announced his presidential run, dropped the mic and nonchalantly walked off stage.

West just so happened to make the big reveal around the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Back in 2005, West, once again, took the masses by surprise when he shared a bold opinion on former President George Bush and his response to New Orleans' African-American residents during the natural disaster.

While Trump admitted that he doesn't "quite get it," he didn't seem to mind the idea of running against West in an election, echoing a point from Yeezy's speech.

"He's said very nice things about me in the past... extremely positive things," Trump said. "He's actually a different kind of person than people think. He's a nice guy. I hope to run against him some day."

West has already rallied up a few supporters from the music world. Both Rihanna and Leona Lewis have spoken out on his speech with the latter saying she was "quite moved."

Others, like Jimmy Kimmel, have noted similarities between the two. It is uncertain whether or not West really intends to run but then again, he's never been a predictable person.
