Legendary goth icon and punk pioneer Siouxsie Sioux shared her first new track in eight years, "Love Crime," during the series finale for NBC's Hannibal. The song was written in collaboration with the series' music supervisor and producer Brian Reitzell, who previously worked with Dublin shoegazers My Bloody Valentine on the score for Sofia Coppola's Lost In Translation.

The first addition to Siouxsie Sioux's already lengthy list of singles since 2008s "About to Happen," "Love Crime" is a subtly ominous yet captivating ballad befitting Hannibal's thematic, easily proving that the London native's aesthetic has thankfully remained consistent. Haunting in its own right, the track possesses post-punk undertones alongside flawless vocals and atmospheric instrumentation. "Love Crime" is cinematically eerie and manages to captivate listeners in a fashion reminiscent of Hannibal's protagonist. It's a seduction of sorts.

"I am a huge Siouxsie Sioux fan and have seen her in concert more times than any other artist in my life," Reitzell stated in an interview with NME. "We knew that she was a fan of the show, and we reached out to see if she'd be interested in writing a song. Essentially, she hasn't had a single in eight years, and she said she hadn't been inspired to write in a long time, but that Hannibal had inspired her and she would write a new song." The collaboration inspired by Reitzell's fandom has gratefully lead to the perfect outro for the series' finale.

Undoubtedly, a new favorite for viewers of the show and for fans of ex-The Creatures lead singer, "Love Crime" brings to mind earlier cuts like "Slowdive" or "Obsession." The recent release flawlessly translates the thematic content of the widely loved yet unfortunately cancelled television show into a memorably dark song. Despite being viewed as a fulfillment of wishes for longtime fans of The Banshees, it has yet to be determined if her newest song will be followed by additional releases of new material or any details announcing a possible follow-up to 2007s Mantaray.
