After recently announcing he'll be taking some time off from music, Ed Sheeran made his debut on Kurt Sutter's latest, gruesome FX series, The Bastard Executioner. Just four episodes in, the ginger-haired knight made a gory cameo as Sir Cormac, an assistant to a mighty priest.

Sheeran appeared in the fourth episode of the first season and showcased his grisly side by ordering a third man to cut out a prisoner's eye with his knife in a bloody, Sutter themed scene, The Mirror reports.

The "Thinking Out Loud" singer will own the recurring role on the gory, medieval series written by the same creator of Sons Of Anarchy. The Bastard Executioner boasts a famous cast of Katey Sagal, Sutter's wife and Gemma from SOA as well as former True Blood star Stephen Moyer.

Although this is Sheeran's first appearance in a Sutter series, this doesn't mark the first time the two have put their heads together. After Sheeran expressed his love for Sons Of Anarchy, Sutter invited him to record music for the show. The X singer recorded a cover of Foy Vance's "Make It Rain" for last December's finale of the biker drama.

Sheeran shows no signs of stopping his television jaunt--he recently revealed that he intend to "hound" those involved with Game Of Thrones for a guest role on the HBO fantasy series. Already appearing on Sesame Street and Neighbours, the singer-songwriter had to pass up a chance to make a Game Of Thrones cameo three years ago due to conflicting schedule issues, NME notes.
