New York based R&B and soul singer Charles Perry is certainly a force to be reckoned with, and we can see that on his new cover of "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat" on the We Love Disney album that will be released late this month (Oct. 30) in conjunction with Disney and Verve Records. The album features songs from movie favorites such as Aladdin, The Lion King, Cinderella and Frozen by the likes of Ariana Grande, Ne-Yo, Kacey Musgraves, and Fall Out Boy amongst others.

Perry may be lesser known than the other featured artists, but his big voice is sure to take him far. The so-called "Soul Superhero" was actually the only new artist to be featured on the Disney cover album. The College Dropouts reported the complete track listing upon it's release.

While his moniker might seem to be a bit over the top, it is actually a childhood nickname given to him by his grandfather, who was a member of a popular doo-wop group in Brooklyn. In addition, Charles Perry has also released his other Verve Records project, an EP that is entitled The Soul Superhero,  which was released late last month (Sept. 25).

"Charles has the depth and sensuality of Marvin Gaye mixed with the theatrics of Freddy Mercury," says Foster, who is also chairman of Verve Music Group. "When I listen to artists, I look at the hair on my arms. If it stands up, I go for it. That's what happened with Charles," Freddy Wexler said to Billboard, who is chairman of The Brain Music

The superhero himself further said to the magazine, "I'm living my dream. My music comes from raw energy. 'The Soul Superhero' is some intergalactic crazy funk... and it's my truth."

According to Billboard, Charles Perry worked with some heavyweight producers Neff U (Janet Jackson and Dr. Dre), Freddy Wexler (Lil Wayne and Avicii), Jason Evigan (Maroon 5 and Jason Derulo) and David Foster (Earth, Wind & Fire and Whitney Houston) on The Soul Superhero and is currently working on his first full-length album.
