The "Queen of Pop" is known for many things; her wide-ranging voice, her former career with Destiny's Child, her role as a feminist and much more. Now, Beyoncé can be put down as The Big Lebowski super fan. As if sampling a French dub of Maude Lebowski's feminist monologue in her successful track "Partition" wasn't enough, the 34-year-old singer, along with Jay-Z, leased the $45 million mansion that was home to the movie's fictional character, Jeffrey Lebowski. Reportedly, they are paying around $150,000 a month for the property.
According to TMZ, the mansion featured in the 1998 cult-classic Coen Brothers film sold last year after being previously owned by ex-Dodgers owner Frank McCourt. Jay-Z and Beyoncé put a bid on the house at that time only to lose the offer to a British billionaire. The new owner apparently decided L.A. wasn't the place for him and put the house back on the market where the celebrity couple quickly snatched it, Entertainment Weekly notes.
Sources divulge that America's power couple are paying out $150,000 a month to live in the Lebowski mansion and have signed a one-year lease on the property, which boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, an Olympic-sized indoor pool, a library/screening room, a spa and a dance studio. We can see it now, Blue Ivy sitting on a good rug while Beyoncé perfects her bowling skills and Jay-Z sucks down a white Russian or two. Perhaps the singer will offer new tracks inspired by the film or maybe add a "man" or two into her daily vocabulary.
As of late, the "Drunk in Love" singer headlined New York City's Global Citizen Festival, offering a number of covers and duets with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Ed Sheeran. Drake recently teamed up with the pop star to drop their latest track, "Can I?" that premiered on Drake's OVO Sound radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1 radio.
