In a recent interview, Blink-182's Travis Barker mentioned that the band, now made up of himself, Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba, have recorded 5 new songs together, including one titled "Punk Rock Cliché."

To refresh your memory, Matt Skiba joined the band earlier this year after founding member Tom DeLonge left and/or was kicked out. The reason for their "friendly divorce" was that DeLonge allegedly would not make time to meet up with the rest of the band to start working on a new album as earlier planned.

Hoppus had bid DeLonge adieu, saying during an interview with Rolling Stone that he wished his former bandmate would do what makes him happy, but to stop holding Blink-182 back in the process. He had further asserted that the band wanted to remain active, recording new music, touring and having fun.

Now, during a new interview with NME, which was scheduled to discuss the drummer's memoir, Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death & Drums, Drums, Drums (out October 20), Barker confirmed just that. "Matt's killing it," he said. "He's fun to play with and write with. We're just getting started but I think we've got like four or five songs right now that I'm really, really happy with. There's a song called 'Punk Rock Cliché' which I love the most right now. It's about friends of ours and their relationships."

Below you can watch Blink-182 with Matt Skiba performing an early track, "Carousel," during one of their first shows together back in March at L.A.'s The Roxy.

During the same interview, Barker was asked how the new songs were sounding. He responded with, "They sound different but still the same... Obviously, it’s Matt Skiba singing so there’s hints of Alkaline Trio, or at least Matt’s contributions to Alkaline Trio, mixed with my drumming and Mark’s voice and stuff. It’s really cool and I really love what we’ve done so far."

He went on to add, "The goal here is to come up with an album and just write... We don’t put a limit on how many songs we’re gonna write. [We just] Write a bunch of songs and when we feel like there’s an album ready, there’s an album ready. You know, no pressure, no deadlines."
