Has One Direction's Liam Payne split from his girlfriend, Sophia Smith? The possible break-up was certainly trending on Twitter yesterday morning (Oct. 24). The mystery continues and fans are wondering if it was behind the band's cancelled show in Belfast this past Tuesday (Oct. 20). Although the show was cancelled, their On The Road Again tour continued accordingly.

Billboard reported that 1D released this statement: "We would like to extend our thanks to the Belfast Giants & Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Teams and fans for moving their game to Friday," as fans were able to either attend the show they'd planned to see on Friday or simply have their tickets refunded. One Direction was deeply apologetic to their fans, especially Payne, and the cancellation sparked a series of tweets from the members.

"I'm so sorry to everybody I disappointed last night. I'm feeling better now. I hope that everybody can make the rescheduled date on Friday," Payne tweeted shortly after the last-minute cancelled show in Belfast this past Wednesday (Oct. 21).

"Thank you so much for all the trends and lovely messages you guys did for me, it really shows how amazing u guys actually are," he further tweeted, "As I said I'm feeling much better now and I really can't wait to perform and make it up to everyone later."

According to MTV UK fans are taking the potential break-up very, very badly and one student even asserts that Sophia has removed all of the photos of her and the One Direction star from Facebook. Others are asserting that a tweet from Payne which reads, "I love how music is always there for you when you need it most x," signals a break-up as reported by The Mirror.

Unfortunately for fans, a representative for One Direction has yet to issue a response to the rumors and they will simply have to wait.
