It's only a rumor for the time being (a well-sourced rumor, mind you), but reports suggest that the Made In America Festival might be looking to launch a West Coast version of the event as soon as this summer. According to the reports, Live Nation (the promoter of the flagship Philadelphia event) are looking at Los Angeles.

Dancing Astronaut reports that Grand Park in downtown L.A. is the target for Live Nation, and the company is reportedly talking to city officials. Neither side has issued a statement confirming or denying the reports however. Los Angeles radio station KPCC-FM has reported seeing blueprints for the proposed event, and claim Made In America would allow for 50,000 in capacity. Those sort of crowds would require road closings around the park for up to ten days. That doesn't mean the city wouldn't be interested; Chicago faces similar logistical issues every year for festivals such as Pitchfork and Lollapalooza.

Don't make plans on attending both versions of the event. If reports are correct, the two renditions of Made In America will take place over the same weekend on opposite coasts. The Philadelphia version hasn't been gotten an official date yet, but both of the previous affairs have occurred over Labor Day weekend. That would put this year's event on August 30 and 31.

Similarly, no lineup has been given for 2014, but last year's featured a number of huge acts, including Beyoncé, Nine Inch Nails, Deadmau5, Phoenix, Queens of The Stone Age and Calvin Harris. The bad news about the possibility of a similar event in L.A. is that the lineups might get watered-down between the two events. The good news is that Jay Z didn't perform at last year's version, so he's sure to make a comeback during 2014(?).
