Prince Royce's "Darte un Beso" spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. Now the Spanish-language hit is getting a Portuguese makeover in collaboration with Brazilian star Michel Teló.

The Portuguese version goes by a new name, "Te Dar Um Beijo," and is the first single off Teló's new album. It is streaming now via Billboard.

The collaboration came about after Teló sought permission to record a cover of "Darte un Beso" in Portuguese. "They sent me a rough demo," Royce told Billboard. "And I said, 'Why don't we just do it together?'"

As Billboard notes, the Portuguese version forgoes Royce's Dominican bachata style in favor of the accordion-based sertanejo music of Brazil. Teló kicks off the track with Royce joining in on vocals after the break.

Royce said he doesn't speak Portuguese but worked with a coach to learn how to sing the song. "For me it's something cool for the fans to listen to and hear me with a whole other vibe and bring together different cultures," he said. "It was very spontaneous."

The pair will likely perform the song at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 24, airing live on the Telemundo network.
