Today is a sad day for New York City nightlife. NYC staple, Pacha NYC, the New York City outpost of the famous Ibiza club by the same has announced that it will close its doors in January 2016.

Pacha has been a part of the fabric of New York City nightlife over the past ten years, helping to shape electronic music in the big city, through the boom. In the past couple years, Pacha has had trouble trying to compete with the Las Vegas clubs who are able to spend millions of dollars to secure the top level DJs for gigs and residencies.

"The average nightclub lasts 18 months - we lasted 120," says Pacha New York's president, Eddie Dean in a statement on the company's website. "It's been a wild ride that none of us will ever forget. Our final parties will celebrate the different artists, styles, and scenes that have made Pacha great."

The club has hosted just about every big DJs on the face of the earth. From the likes of Alesso, Porter Robinson, Armin van Buuren, Kaskade, Danny Tenaglia, Eric Morillo, Avicii, Luciano, Afrojack, Knife Party, Eric Prydz, Madeon, Mat Zo, Hardwell and so many others, if a DJ has played in New York, it is likely that they played at Pacha at some point in their career.

The club is not going to go out without a bang though. There are still two more months to go of parties. Artists like Diddy, Dirty South, Carnage and Markus Schulz will all host nights that now have increased importance.

The club will begin its 10th anniversary parties next month as Erick Morillo does his final performance at Pacha on Dec. 12. Jonathan Peters will spin for 72 hours on NYE and then the final parties will be announced in the coming weeks for January when the club shuts down.

This is a major blow to the club scene, but according to a Pacha rep, RPM Presents, which puts on the major events around the city like Pier of Fear and Big Week NYC will still carry on.
