Dru Hill released an album in 2010 entitled InDRUpendence Day, which you probably never even heard of due to lack of promotion from their then record label, Kedar Entertainment. For that very reason, the group sued the label and was just awarded a $1 million settlement for failed record sales and lack of promotion.

The group known for hits like "Tell Me," "In My Bed," and "Beauty," released the 2010 album in the hopes that it would land them future tour dates and royalties, These never came because the album was not properly promoted, according Rolling Out. The group signed a deal with the label to release two comeback albums, one for the group itself, and the other from one of the group members, Sisqo, who had a successful solo career. Sisqo's album, Last Dragon, was released in February of this year and also didn't perform as well as expected.

According to reports, a New York federal judge awarded the group the million-dollar settlement, citing breach of contract against Kedar Entertainment, owned by Kedar Massenburg, for its failiure to spend $300 thousand in promotional use to boost the "album sales, concert bookings, and publishing revenue" from the release of the records. In addition to failed promotion, Dru Hill also claimed in the lawsuit that they never received the advance that the label promised them at the start of their comeback projects.

The group has been released from their contracts with Kedar Entertainment and is continuing to tour despite the lack of promotional effort made by the label. The group was recently booked to perform in Malawi, South Africa, but due to bad business practices on the part of the promoter, that show has been cancelled, according to All Africa. According to the site, Malawi police have arrested Umodzi Park, an agent and promoter hired to bring Dru Hill to South Africa for a performance, for allegedly obtaining money under false pretense.

Dru Hill tweeted their apologies to their fans and expressed how the cancellation of their show is of no fault of their own.
