Since Swedish House Mafia's unforgettable departure from the Music Scene during Ultra Music Festival (Miami) on March 24th, 2013, there hasn't been a day that's gone by where we've anxiously waited for the news of their resurgence. Axwell alluded to the possibility of SHM joining forces again during an interview with Zane Lowe towards the end of November, and although the rumors are endless (even from a former SHM member), another SHM member, Steve Angello, has spoked to the contrary.

As first translated by We Rave You, in a recent interview with the Swedish publication Dagens Nyheter, Angello made it clear that he's moved on from SHM and that his most current album, Wild Youth, is a great indicator that he's not only left SHM behind (no pun intended), but that he's also moved into a better place to express the music that's true to his identity.

"You wanted to know how far you could take it all. There was a lot of drinking, boating, flying helicopter. I was at a place where one is actually afraid of ending up as an artist. I was out touring the world with meaningless music, but one day you come back down to earth again," he said.

Although some harsh words for SHM fans to hear, especially from a member that was (and still is) admired and idolized, it's clear that Angello wasn't able to truly express the music that resonated with his passions and background while working under SHM, but that Wild Youth gave him the opportunity to show everyone the music that he truly wanted to make.

Angello went on to say, "I just felt: I can make dance hits now. There is a special formula that always works. I wanted to create something that means more. Dance music wasn't evolving or progressing like other musical genres were. Take hip hop, as an example, it always speaks about culture, religion, society and politics. Dance music has never talked about anything. There is no history. So I want to tell mine."

From Angello's "meaningles music" with SHM to creating his own Dance Music history with Wild Youth, it's become apparent that despite the rumors and the teases, SHM will remain nothing but a fond memory that should be cherished for their incredible influence on the Music World and, equally as important, that Angello has moved on; truly signifying the end of SHM and the beginning of Angello's blossoming solo career.
