One of the biggest struggles for anyone who hosts a party or attends one is the need to have good music that can appease a larger audience. Music journalists and other industry professionals will hold their nose at this task and try to educate a crowd with some eccentric tunes pumped through the aux chord, but for the rest of the civilized world, this task can be daunting. Now Spotify thinks it has the answer with a new and improved party playlist function that it has launched with the help of Diplo.

The new playlists will add more elements beyond the normal curation you expect from Spotify and their human / computer integration. The playlists will be professionally mixed, which means the tracks will be beat-matched so there aren't those awkward pauses in between songs or the sudden jumps between a 128 bpm house song and a more downtempo r&b track that can throw off the mood.

In addition to beat-matching, Spotify now allows you to change the mood so as the party changes, the music can to.

"When it comes to throwing parties you simply have to have the right playlists - or everyone will leave," says Diplo in a statement. "And while researching and picking out music is fun, it also takes a lot of time and effort. With Spotify Party, you're served with loads of beat-matched music that transitions perfectly, which you can easily adapt to whatever your current vibe is. Best of all, you don't have to do any of the legwork."

Diplo has help curate a special playlist to kick things off with Spotify with 120 different tracks.

This is the next step in computerized curation that has started to take over the music industry. There is still a human element to this, but it will beg the question of whether or not this will start to replace lower-level party DJs, though some will always prefer the human element.
