Many people view the new year as a way to start fresh and let go of the past. Well, Netflix is doing something similar by ridding its streaming system of several programs. Subscribers can prepare to say goodbye to a handful of movie classics in January 2016. Here's a list of everything leaving Netflix next month.
Netflix is scheduled to remove over 70 movies and television shows and we're giving you a chance to give them one last watch before they expire. The list is filled with films that have left a major mark in Hollywood and some have even went on to inspire sequels and remakes that are still being produced today.
American Psycho
A handsome Manhattan investment banker named Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) tries his best to keep up with appearances for his fiancé Evelyn (Reese Witherspoon) and his extremely shallow friends, but deep down he's hiding a horrific secret. He lives an alternate life as a gruesome serial killer. There's no telling what will happen next in this dark horror comedy featuring a star-studded cast.
The Virgin Suicides
A group of neighborhood boys become obsessed with the mysterious and beautiful Lisbon sisters. Their world is soon shattered, igniting a police investigation that shakes up the town. The mystery of teenage adolescence is brought to life in this 1999 Sofia Coppola directed drama. The story explores love, sex, restraint, and death. The cast features Kirsten Dunst, Kathleen Turner, Josh Hartnett, James Woods, Danny DeVito, Hayden Christensen, and more.
The Graduate
Recent college graduate Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) is back at home living with his parents and is unsure what he wants to do with his life. He's later propositioned and seduced by an older family friend known as Mrs. Robinson. Their secret relationship soon becomes complicated when he falls in love with her daughter. Benjamin must decide how to keep his secret and still keep his girlfriend.
*This is also where the Mrs. Robinson reference came from in Fifty Shades of Grey.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Jack Skellington of Halloweentown is tired of scaring people every year. For him, it has all become pretty routine. After stumbling upon Christmastown, he's blown away by the happy faces, bright lights, and holiday cheer. Jack attempts to take over the role of Santa Claus, but his plan doesn't quite work out the way he thought it would.
