In the spirit of Christmas, Green Day surprise released a brand new track titled "Xmas Time Of The Year" for fans, their first new song in nearly 18 months, and they also launched their own coffee company, according to reports.

The song was released on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) via social media, with Twitter followers getting the first taste. The laid back, lackadaisical Christmas anthem is a bit different than some of the more energetic electric tracks you may have heard from their most recent trio of albums released in 2012, Uno!, Dos! and Tre!, but its cheery flow, use of jingle bells and riff-driven verses make for a refreshing change for anyone sick of Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

According to NME, while all has been quiet over at the Green Day camp for some time now, the pop-punk trio may be working on new music, according to the band's producer Rob Cavallo's comments back in April. "Let me tell you, they were just fantastic. He is absolutely at the top of his game," Rob said of the band's frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. "Fans can be sure that when they do return, the music will be amazing."

The band, who was one of last year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, have also launched their own coffee brand according to The Financial Times. The company, named Oakland Coffee Works, is being spearheaded by Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt, and preaches environmental consciousness with compostable coffee bags and pods.

The coffee bean roasting outlet has already teamed up with UrthPact and UltraFlex to develop the bags, composed of starch and sugar, which are currently available. The patents for the coffee pods are still pending, but are in line to become available in January of 2016.
