Twelve years after its original release, Beyoncé’s debut solo album Dangerously In Love has surpassed 5 million in U.S. sales.

According to Billboard, the album, released in 2003, sold just over 2,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 24. The new sales brought its cumulative total over the five millionth mark in sales.

The album, which featured the singles “Me, Myself and I,” “Baby Boy” with Sean Paul, “Naughty Girl” and the chart-topping “Crazy In Love” featuring her now hubby Jay Z, remains Beyoncé’s best-selling solo effort.

Upon its release, Dangerously In Love opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album included contributions from Scott Storch, Rich Harrison, Missy Elliott and Big Boi. With Beyoncé serving as executive producer, the album also featured a duet with the late Luther Vandross.

“My album is a good balance of really beautiful ballads and great mid-tempos with just ridin’-in-your-car feels, to a lot of great up-tempo club songs, to really sexy songs, to songs that make you feel emotional,” Beyonce told MTV prior to the album's release. “It’s a nice mixture of different types of tracks.”

Dangerously in Love received generally positive reviews from music critics and solidified Beyoncé as a solo star.

Prior to launching her solo career, Beyoncé made musical strides with the group Destiny’s Child. The group earned two No. 1 albums with Survivor and the greatest hits collection #1s. Destiny’s Child has four million-selling albums with their total album sales standing at 17.5 million.

Beyoncé has sold 16 million solo albums in the U.S. Her last studio effort, her self-titled album, was released in 2013 and has moved 2.3 million units.
