Veteran Hip Hop and Yo! MTV Raps host, Ed Lover, is making his way back to a career in broadcast journalism but, this time he's taking it to the airwaves as a radio host for a new syndicated morning show, dedicated to throwback hip hop music, alongside another old school music great -- the Grammy-nominated Monie Love.

According to a press release by Reach Media Inc., the same company that syndicates other major radio shows like, "The Tom Joyner Morning Show;" "The DL Hughley Show" and "Yolanda Adams Morning Show," Reach and Radio One will add more celebrity interviews with great music and some pretty cool hosts to the family roster by bringing back what Ed Lover is most known for: his love and passion for throwback hip hop.

Radio TV Talk report that Ed Lover and Monie Love launched the, "The Ed Lover Show" on Monday January 11, airing from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Atlanta's BOOM 102.9. According to the site, Boom, a Radio One station, added an upgrade to their programming to enable an increase in range and frequency by acquiring 97.5 in addition to their 102.9 signal.

The additional signal is only one step forward to providing an overall better station and sound than their rival, classic hip-hop station OG 97.9. Boom has also hired more on-air radio professionals to add more of on air presence than the other station, who reportedly has a "jukebox" sound, with no on-air talent present, but a lot of music playing all of the time.

"The Ed Lover Show" began its testing in Philadelphia where it reached a large enough audience to gain great reviews to grow into a syndicated show. On Monday morning, the show went live and featured songs like, "Naughty By Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray;" (1993) Lauryn Hill's "Lost Ones," (1998) Slick Rick's "Children's Story," (1988) Nas' "Oochie Wally" (2000) and M.O.P.'s "Ante Up," (2000). They later went into tracks from Eazy-E ,Dr. Dre, Outkast and Lumidee.

According to Reach's press release, the show is currently in Atlanta but will soon be added to Philadelphia's Boom 107.9 and will continue to be added to the programming of other successful classic hip hop stations all over the map.

"Mr. C'mon Son" as he is known shared his excitement for the beginning of the show on Instagram.

Ed Lover is a member of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame while Monie Love is known for her hit throwback classics, "Monie in the Middle" and "It's a Shame (My Sister)."
