Following his recent appearance on the season finale of NBC's Parks and Recreation, fans of alternative rockers Wilco may find themselves another reason to celebrate. The band's frontman Jeff Tweedy recently announced that he's going on a solo tour alongside releasing a debut solo album.

The tour contains 16 dates, taking Tweedy nationwide – with two stops in Canada – and will kick off on June 5 at the Masonic Temple in Detroit and close up at the ever so popular (and already sold out) Newport Folk Festival on July 27 in Rhode Island. Accompanying the singer-songwriter will be a backing band consisting of his son Spencer on drums, guitarist Jim Elkington, keyboardist Liam Cunningham and bassist Darin Gray.

While no details on the album have been announced (including it's release date), word has it that more particulars are coming soon. One thing fans and show attendees can look forward to, however, is that Tweedy and his band will be playing songs from the record along with some solo versions of both Wilco and Uncle Tupelo tunes.
