Good news for fans of rap group Jurassic 5, who split up in 2007 after a series of critically acclaimed if not hugely successful in the commercial sense. A new track has emerged online, including a video of the group on a recent tour, which suggests that the group may be heading back to the studio soon. Let's not get too excited too quickly however.

The track, titled "The Way We Do It," hasn't been heard before, but that doesn't exactly mean it's new. The credits at the end of the video attribute production to Heavy D, who died during 2011. That means the beat was produced at least prior to that point, which isn't to say Jurassic 5 didn't wait until now to add lyrics. And, regardless of when they recorded the vocals, the group waited until now to release the song. So hope springs eternal.

But as for the song itself: It's just what you'd expect from the group, best known for a Run-D.M.C.-style approach to the mics. Emcee Akil jumps to the fore and Chali 2na's instantly recognizable bass delivery is pleasant to here after eight years without new music from the group. And of course, all members join together to deliver the titular hook. The song revolves around a White Stripes sample, from the jazz-influenced single "My Doorbell" off of Get Behind Me Satan.

The video is simple and enjoyable, featuring the group performing on the steps of a snow-covered Red Rocks Amphitheater, interspersed with live footage from an actual show in Denver. DJ Nu-Mark even got to set up his tables on Red Rock's chilly stage (good luck scratching with those mittens).

The group hasn't suggested the most recent announcement of dates (including a slot at Glastonbury) means a full-on reunion, but we can hope.
