According to industry forecasters, Mariah Carey's latest release Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse may mark the lowest SoundScan-era first-week sales of a non-holiday studio album for the songstress.

Carey is heading towards her 17th top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart, but it is unlikely that the album will come in at the No. 1 slot.

Billboard reports The Elusive Chanteuse could sell around 55,000 to 60,000 copies in the week ending June 1. If industry forecasters are accurate, this could give Carey a possible start at No. 3.

The diva's previous low came in 1991 when Emotions launched at No. 4 with 156,000, according to SoundScan. Carey has had six No. 1 albums, between 1991 and 2008.

Chanteuse was released on May 27 by Def Jam Records. It had been nearly five years since the release of her last non-holiday studio album, 2009's Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel.

Billboard says this is her longest gap between studio projects.

The site also says that Carey will likely be blocked from the No. 1 slot on next week's Billboard 200 chart by Coldplay's Ghost Stories and Brantley Gilbert's Just As I Am

All in all, the album has faced several blows with failed radio singles and a year of delayed release dates.

Carey has already released four singles from the album including "#Beautiful," "The Art Of Letting Go" and "You're Mine (Eternal)."

"Thirsty" is her latest release.
