British rock band Bring Me The Horizon does not have a great history with UK pop band Coldplay, so when lead singer Oli Sykes trashed the Super Bowl halftime show headliners' table at this week's 2016 NME Awards, many thought the worst. Sykes previously voiced his anger over Coldplay's Head Full of Dreams cover art resembling his own band's Sempiternal flower. So did he target Chris Martin and company at the awards ceremony during the performance of "Happy Song" or was it just a coincidence?

According to Sykes, his jumping onto the band's table, kicking its contents to the floor and eventually bringing the table crashing down, therefore breaking it completely, "was in no way a protest against Coldplay." Sykes explained this in a backstage interview after the band won the NME Innovation Award. You can watch this interview right here.

While many might consider this rude or disrespectful, Chris Martin told NME that he thought it was pretty cool, actually.

"It was great, very rock n roll," the singer said, according to UPROXX.

Even if Sykes didn't really mean to cause any trouble and was just feeling the music, he is once again linked to Coldplay, which is how most of the music world will now view them: "that band that seems to not like Coldplay, but apparently couldn't care about them?" At least, that's what I'm getting from this.
