Officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, Hallé St. Peter's lies in the heart of Manchester's Ancoats Urban Village--now providing rehearsal, performance and recording space for Hallé's orchestra, choir and various ensembles, as well as a home for their many community and educational projects.

Located on Blossom Street, the building, itself, is a grade two-listed deconsecrated church that was built in 1859. By the time the Hallé had acquired St. Peter's, though, the structure had stood empty for decades.

After you gaze at these stunning photos of St. Peter's grand opening, watch music director Sir Mark Elder, CBE explain precisely what this edifice means not just to the Hallé, but also to good, industrious Mancunians throughout the city.

Concilio et labore, indeed.
