Elton John spent time with rapper Young Thug in Atlanta on Wednesday (March 23), fueling rumors that the two are indeed working on a collaboration together.

Among a slew of Snapchats sent to fans, the Barter 6 emcee also shared some viral photos of the unexpected get together on Instagram:

Earlier this month, an unidentified source told The Fader that Thug was helping Sir Elton on a remix of the 1972 classic, "Rocket Man" -

"It's all the instrumental, the guitar, piano - and Thug is not rapping, he's singing. It's really ambient and amazing."

They first started talking through Facetime video calls.

Surprisingly, the "Tiny Dancer" superstar truly respects Thugga's music:

"I love all of that, it's unexpected... I remember when Blind Faith came out, with a nude girl and John and Yoko; you had to buy it in a black plastic bag. And you should be able to do things like that but we don't live in that kind of world anymore" (via Apple's Beats 1 Radio).

The 68-year-old English songwriter even compares 24-year-old Thug to the late Beatles icon John Lennon, since he continues pushing creative limits:

"I remember when Blind Faith came out, with a nude girl and John and Yoko - you had to buy it in a black plastic bag. And you should be able to do things like that but we don't live in that kind of world anymore."

And the admiration is mutual. In his hit song "Power," Thug references the lyrics:

"I'm a rocket, rocket / I can't stop it, stop it."

How will this epic collaboration compare to John's past work with infamous "Rap God," Eminem?

Stay tuned as more details surrounding this latest hip-hop project develop.
