Following terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium that killed about 31 people and left 300 people wounded, diva Mariah Carey announced that her show for the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour in the area is cancelled due to safety concerns.
Carey posted the announcement to Twitter and Instagram on Friday, March 25 saying that will she not be at the Forest National arena for Sunday's performance which had been planned. The "One Sweet Day" singer said that her decision is "for the safety of my fans, my band, crew and everyone involved with the tour."
"I hope to see you soon and send my prayers and eternal love, laughter and light to my fans," she added according to Billboard.
The cancellation was predicted by TMZ saying that the security team of Carey is "strongly against" her concert in the area due to the recent terror attack especially that her level of fame has increased due to her engagement to billionaire beau James Packer.
The pop diva will also be celebrating her 46th birthday on Sunday which is supposed to be the date of her performance in Brussels. No further details about the cancellation was released including information about ticket reimbursements.
Carey is currently on her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour in Europe wherein she has 22 shows. The tour kicked off on March 15 and is set to end on May 2, 2016 after completing her 27 shows including four in Africa and one in North America.
The "We Belong Together" singer will perform at the Forum Copenhagen in Denmark this coming Tuesday. She is also set to visit Germany, Poland, Italy and will wrap up her tour in South Africa. The concert tour is the tenth international tour of the award-winning singer after decades of being a pop star, EOnline reported.
To recall, bombing attacks at the Brussels airport and subway station has claimed lives. Nine potential suspects from ISIS were arrested.
