Will the summer of 2016 be the birth of the biggest music festival rivalry in New York City? If the competitive festival lineups for Panorama and Governors Ball aren't enough evidence, the super expensive ticket prices on the resale market should be indicative of what may be the start of longstanding competition. So which will be crowned the best summer music festival?

While Panorama boats an impressive lineup for a first-time festival (including headliners like Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar and LCD Soundsystem), the five-year old veteran Governors Ball may present a more mature roster of acts.

Below is a breakdown of both festivals, with information on how to buy tickets. Pricing information is provided by ticket aggregator TiqIQ.

Governors Ball | Randall's Island | June 3-5 | Average Resale Ticket Price: $548 | Get-in Price: $329

Kanye West, the Strokes, the Killers, Robyn, M83, Haim, Chvrches, Father John Misty, and Death Cab For Cutie are just a handful of names scheduled to take the stage this June at Governors Ball. While 3-day General Admission tickets to Governors Ball are still available, VIP tix are sold out which means if you're a last-minute shopper looking for a way in for the whole weekend, you'll have to rely on secondary tickets. Currently, 3-day passes to Governors Ball are averaging $548, with the cheapest pass up for grabs for $329 -- a price that is actually cheaper than the face value 3-day pass, which was listed at $345 including all fees.

Panorama | Randall's Island | July 22-23 | Average Resale Ticket Price: $575 | Get-in Price: $432

The New York newbie edges out Governors Ball when it comes to a more hip-hop and dance heavy lineup. Panorama's headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem, but the hip hop and dance acts include Kendrick, Rocky, Run the Jewels, ScHoolboy Q, DJ Khaled, Major Lazer, Flosstradamus and more.

Although Governors Ball may be a bigger draw for some simply due to its longstanding popularity, Panorama is pulling in impressive numbers for a first-timer. As it stands, Panorama passes are still available on the primary market, where 3-day general admission passes are going for $369 (including fees). On the secondary market, tickets average $575, with the cheapest pass up for grabs for $432.
