Demi Lovato has shut down and returned to both her Twitter and Instagram feeds in just 24 hours. According to a post from the "Confident" singer, she deactivated these accounts because she wanted to avoid negative comments from followers about her mental health charity.

Lovato can count 36.6 million followers on Twitter and 40.8 million followers on Instagram, all of whom she left behind for a mere 24 hours. But Lovato did remain on Snapchat, and wrote that on that social media she did not “have to see what some of y’all say.”

The singer shut down her Twitter and Instagram accounts this past Monday (June 20) and returned the next day (June 21) according to Billboard.

On her Twitter account Lovato urged her followers to “pay more attention to good than bad.”

In other Lovato news, the singer recently split from actor boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama after almost six years together. The couple issued a statement that they will remain friends.

A message posted to Instagram said, “After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship. This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years.”
