Bobby Shmurda has been officially sentenced to seven years in prison. This comes after he reportedly made a last ditch effort to drop his plea.

The Brooklyn rapper was sentenced to seven years on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in accordance with the please deal worked out with Manhattan prosecutors last month.

However at the last minute he got cold feet and told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott that his lawyer forced him to accept the deal against his will.

"I was forced to take this sentence. I don't want to take this sentence," Shmurda told the judge according to the New York Daily News. "I want to drop my plea."

He then told a stunned courtroom that he wanted to fire his lawyer Alex Spiro.

The state did not acquiesce to the last ditch plea. Assistant District Attorney Nigel Farinha asked to go forward with the sentencing anyway and Clott imposed the seven year prison.

Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy and one count of weapons possession just days before he was due to stand trial.

Pollard claimed the gun was being used as a prop for a music video.

He was being connected to the Brooklyn gang GS9, which had been investigated by a police taskforce and several of its members have been given lengthy prison sentances as a result.

Shmurda broke out in 2014 with his single "Hot Boy," which spawned the Shmoney Dance." The low budget video racked up millions of views on YouTube.

His mother, Leslie Pollard expressed her disappointment in the process. "You don't have any rights in that courtroom," she said via Billboard. "It's heartbreaking. It's disappointing."
