The boss has finally spoken.

MMG rapper Meek Mill ran into some legal troubles yesterday and was sentenced to three to six months in jail for a probation violation.

Rick Ross issued a statement regarding Meek's situation via MTV News. In it, Ross vowed to stand by Meek and referred to him as not only his artist but his family.

"I created MMG years ago, my desire was to create a space where the most talented artists in the world could be nurtured and supported. With that came a commitment. I vowed to support these artist, through the good and the bad. Every individual signed to MMG is not just an artist, they are my family. And with family you ride, or you die. Yesterday, my brother, Meek Mill ran into some unfortunate legal issues. It happens. However, his team, our team, will continue to execute Meek's plan as close to schedule as possible."

As previously reported, FOX 29 says Meek's jail time stems from a local District Attorney's concern with the 27-year-old's behavior while he's on probation.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Meek's appeal to his judge, Genece E. Brinkley, was to no avail.

Brinkley expressed concern about the rapper's ability to comply with his probation parameters. Just as suspected, the rapper's social media accounts were the smoking gun as the judge cited photos and tweets.

Apparently Brinkley is quite familiar with Meek Mill and his case.

"After all these years of me trying to help him move his career forward . . . I believe this defendant is basically thumbing his nose at me," Brinkley said during the four-hour hearing.

Meek reportedly pleaded with Brinkley to let him continue working.

"It took me 15 years to get here, and this will be extremely damaging to my life," Mill said.

Looks like the rest of MMG will have to carry the torch for a while.
