David Bowie has confirmed work on new music that he says will be released "soon," NME reports. He issued a statement at a London charity event, which was held to celebrate 50 years of his music and raise money for the Terrance Higgins Trust.

"This city is even better than the one you were in last year, so remember to dance, dance. And then sit down for a minute, knit something, then get up and run all over the place," the statement, confirmed by his spokesman to be Bowie's, read. "Do it. Love on ya. More music soon. David."

The upcoming material will follow up his 24th studio album, 2013's The Next Day, which went to No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200. His first album in ten years, it was also nominated for the Mercury Prize, Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards, and British Album of the Year at the Brit Awards.

As NME notes, a film centered around London's Victoria & Albert Museum's Bowie exhibition, titled David Bowie Is Happening Now, is being proposed for a global cinema release later this year.
