Kim Kardashian recently shared the name of her third child. Chicago West was born on Monday, Jan. 15, with the help of the reality TV star's gestational carrier.

The 37-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star also shared some details about her daughter via her website. She said that her daughter was born at 12:47 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Chicago's nickname is Chi, and her older siblings are called North and Saint West.

Following Kim's announcement, Khloe Kardashian gushed over her niece's name. On her social media account, the 33-year-old Revenge Body star said that she loves the name Chicago.

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE her name hey Chi (shy) https://t.co/Ikd0ay3DsO

Kim has not yet revealed why she chose the name Chicago for her third child, but her husband, Kanye West, grew up in Chicago.

Prior to Kim's announcement about her daughter's name, Rob Kardashian already hinted on what his niece would be called. On his Twitter account, the dad of one shared two Chicago bear emojis. No one realized that Rob was dropping a major clue about Kim and Kanye's daughter's name at that time.

Surrogate Versus Gestational Carrier

On Tuesday, Kim announced that her gestational carrier has given birth. She also expressed her gratitude to the doctors and nurses who helped her gestational carrier throughout her pregnancy. Two days later, Kim explained why she decided to not get pregnant with her own child.

"I have always been really honest about my struggles with pregnancy. Preeclampsia and placenta accreta are high-risk conditions, so when I wanted to have a third baby, doctors said that it wasn't safe for my -- or the baby's -- health to carry my own," wrote Kim.

In her lengthy post, Kim also differentiated a surrogate from a gestational carrier. She said that a surrogate typically donates her egg to a woman who wants to have a baby but could not get pregnant. A gestational carrier, on the other hand, carries the egg of the woman who wishes to get pregnant but could not.

Kim Kardashian's Biological Daughter

Kim and Kanye are biologically related to Chicago even though she was not the one who got pregnant with her daughter. Before her baby's arrival, Kim admitted that she was worried she would not have a connection with her third child because she did not get pregnant with her. However, this changed because Kim was the first person to have skin to skin contact with her little one.
