Robin Pecknold and Justin Vernon were not pleased with Bruno Mars's wins at Sunday's Grammy Awards. Both musicians took their thoughts to social media immediately after the ceremony.

Vernon, who is a member of the Bon Iver band, said that he was surprised that Mars brought home almost all the awards from the categories he was nominated in. Pecknold, a member of Fleet Foxes, said that only Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and Jay-Z were the ones who deserved their nominations. The singer also called Mars a Toys R Us Gap Band.

Bruno Mars' Grammy Awards

Mars grabbed nearly all the Grammys last weekend. The 32-year-old singer brought home the Album of the Year award, which fans predicted will be given to Lamar's rap tour de force album, Damn.

His song "That's What I Like" was also recognized in the Song of the Year category. "24K Magic" was dubbed as the Record of the Year, and Mars also brought home the Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance for "That's What I Like." 24K Magic was also recognized as Best R&B Album.

Alessia Cara Responds To Critics

The awards show was also plagued with several other controversies. Some fans were upset that Alessia Cara won Best New Artist when her album was released in 2015. Fans of SZA and other singers claimed that the 21-year-old's album should not have been nominated in the first place.

Following her win, Cara released a statement acknowledging the fact that her album was not released recently. The "Stay" singer said that she was not the one who nominated herself at the music awards show.

"I will not let everything I've worked for be diminished by people taking offense to my accomplishments and feeling the need to tell me how much I suck," wrote Cara.

Female Artists Snub

The 2018 Grammy Awards was also criticized for its lack of female winners even though there were a lot of female nominees. Ed Sheeran was the only male artist to be nominated in the Best Pop Solo Performance, but he won over Kelly Clarkson, Kesha, Lady Gaga, and Pink. Sheeran was also slammed for not attending the event even though he was nominated in one of the topmost categories.

However, there were also a handful of male artists that were nominated in multiple categories but did not bring home a single award. Jay-Z was nominated in eight categories, but he went home with nothing. Louis Fonsi was nominated in the Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Group/Duo Performance categories, but he also went home empty-handed.
