Diplo and MØ talk about the brother-sister dynamic in the behind-the-scenes look into the making of their hit new song, "Get It Right."
The two-minute-and-30-second video also features director Brantley Gutierrez, the genius behind the music video. Calvit Hodge and Sara Bivens, the choreographers, also talk about how they crafted the dance routine that accompanied the song.
Getting It Right
For those who have not seen the video, Diplo shows fans that he, too, can dance in "Get It Right." In the three-minute music video, Diplo and MØ dance inside an empty room with only a grand piano in the corner.
Gutierrez revealed that the concept of the music video was actually imagined by the two singers. He said the world-renowned artists want to share their friendship with their fans.
"This concept came about through Diplo and MØ actually," the director shared. "The kind of almost have this brotherly-sisterly sort of vibe and they wanted to try that on film. They thought that maybe trying to do a dance piece would be a fun way to show the world a different side of their relationship."
As for the dance, the moves might look easy and basic but it actually reflects each of the artists' personalities. The two are not afraid to make mistakes because they are having so much fun.
"Mø and I have been working together since 2013 so being able to create this dance piece together was really special," the artist whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, wrote on YouTube.
Diplo and MØ first collaborated when the latter was working on her debut EP Bikini Daze. She later contributed to "Lean On" and "Cold Water" by Major Lazer, the electronic trio made up of Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire.
About The Track
"Get it Right" is from the soundtrack of Give Me Future, a documentary centered on Major Lazer's trip to Cuba. The concert marked the country's first ever electronic dance festival.
"'Get It Right' was one of those songs that was written within a very short amount of time where you hear the beat, you feel inspired, you sing the melodies and the lyrics write themselves because they were already there," said MØ. "Good sounds inspire you to write more passionately about subjects that are close to your heart, and Wes' sounds tend to do that to me. We've collaborated a lot of times over the past five years and working with him has helped me develop as a songwriter and shape my voice. I'm very thankful for our artistic journey together."
The track has already been streamed more than 30 million times since it was released and the music video was viewed by over 5 million times on YouTube.
