Grimes reveals that she will be changing her name legally to "C." The singer's partner, Elon Musk, was the one who encouraged her to do so.

"C" is in reference to Grimes' first name Claire. The singer also said that her new name will be spelled in lowercase letter and it will also be italicized to look like "c."

Grimes Credits Elon Musk

Fans of the singer wondered why she suddenly thought of changing her name, and Grimes gave Musk the credit she felt he deserved.

"Well, he's the one who pointed out that my working nickname (c) actually rox and I need to look further ... Claire has been the bane of my existence since I became sentient," replied Grimes.

Grimes Talks About Her New Songs

Other than her possible name change, Grimes also made headlines recently when she gave her adoring fans an update regarding her new songs.

"Well ideally I have both tracks in by Friday night [May 18] and then however long it takes to mix and master and set up Spotify and Apple Music and iTunes which unfortunately I think takes like 2 wks? But my work is almost done at which point it's the machine that is responsible," explained Grimes.

Earlier this year, the 30-year-old singer slammed the music industry and called it trash. She said she was supposed to release her new single earlier, but it did not happen because of some issues. Grimes later on clarified that her shade had nothing to do with her management at Jay-Z's Roc Nation.

On her social media account, Grimes penned a cryptic tweet slamming her critics. She said that they should not judge Jay-Z just because her music was not released on time. Grimes also said that Jay-Z has been very helpful and encouraging since she signed under his label.
